Arcangelo, born Esposito Arcangelo, is an artist who has explored the power of the land and cultural roots for over forty years through an intense, tactile and radical approach to painting. His works arise from a profound connection with the landscape of Southern Italy, transformed into universal visions through travels and influences from Africa, the East and the Mediterranean.

Across his pictorial cycles, from Terra mia to Pianeti, from Misteri to the more recent Fiori di croco, essential marks, pure pigments and natural materials give shape to a distinctive and recognisable visual language, capable of evoking horizons that are both ancestral and contemporary.

He lives and works between Italy and several other countries, continuing to explore the meaning of belonging, traditions and the stories of lands both near and far.

Fiore nero di Pompei, Terra di Fuoco is a fierce and passionate tribute to a land burning with history: Campania, a “land of fire” known and loved by Stefano Rastrelli, who added this work to his collection in May 2025.

The black flower symbolises a people who do not reject their roots, who know both beauty and destruction, and who possess the strength to rise again. It embodies the fire of those who struggle, who defend their traditions, customs and pride. It is a powerful sign, like the land that inspired it.
