Chiara Dynys

Chiara Dynys is one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary Italian artists. Active since the 1990s, her research focuses on the idea of the “threshold”: a point of passage between the visible and the invisible, reality and perception, matter and spirit.

Dynys works with a wide variety of materials and techniques, including glass, mirrors, light, textiles, ceramics, photography and video. Through them, she creates visual universes that invite viewers to question the meaning of things. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious museums and foundations in Italy and around the world.

She shares a close friendship with Stefano Rastrelli, whose collection includes a significant group of her works and who serves as president of the Chiara Dynys Archive.

In Enlightening Books, Chiara Dynys creates a bookcase in sandblasted, hand-painted glass, in which certain volumes appear to emit their own light. This illumination is not merely physical, but symbolic: it represents the light of knowledge, intuition and transformation.

The selected books evoke fundamental texts capable of changing the way we perceive the world. At a time when information is immediate yet fleeting, this sculpture becomes a silent tribute to the depth of reading and its power to shape the individual.

The bookcase thus becomes a threshold between memory and oblivion, between what endures and what is lost.
