Alessandro Bazan

Alessandro Bazan is one of the leading figures of the so-called Palermo School. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, he immediately embraced a fast, instinctive and deeply contemporary approach to figurative painting.
His works depict everyday scenes, domestic interiors, musicians, bodies and cities through vivid colours and energetic brushwork that brings together art-historical references, cinema, comics and popular culture. Jazz music, one of the artist’s great personal passions, often shapes the rhythm of his compositions.
He has exhibited in major Italian museums and galleries, participated in the Rome Quadriennale and represented contemporary Italian art in international contexts.

In Prova , the drummer appears to dissolve into the sound of his instrument. Rapid, restless brushstrokes transform the scene into something almost musical, closer to rhythm than to precise description.
The violet tones, swift marks and luminous background convey the fragile and chaotic energy of an improvised jazz session.

Petit Dejeuner depicts an apparently simple domestic moment, filled with silent tensions. The three female figures occupy the same space without ever fully connecting.
The intense light, vivid blue floor and almost cinematic colours suspend the scene between everyday life and theatre. Bazan transforms a kitchen into an emotionally unstable and deeply human setting.
