Matteo Montani

After a classical education and studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino and Rome, Matteo Montani graduated in 1997 with a thesis on blue as an expressive function. His artistic research developed through an original use of abrasive paper as a painting surface, capable of capturing visual and inner epiphanies. Montani's painting is contemplative, subtle, evocative: a threshold between light and matter, between visible and invisible. Over the course of his career he has exhibited in Italian and international galleries and museums, and his works are held in prestigious public and private collections.

With Stefano Rastrelli there is more than artistic esteem: they share a deep friendship, which makes the presence of his works in the collection all the more meaningful.

This iconic work belongs to the series known as King's Blue, named for the intensity of the blue used, almost hypnotic, capable of evoking inner landscapes and silent energies. The vertical brushstrokes, like interrupted flows of energy, seem to resonate like a visual echo, between gesture and epiphany. The title itself suggests a dance that is light, impalpable, yet powerful: a movement that cannot be grasped, a passage, an apparition. It is painting that does not represent but "reveals", like a passageway between the visible and the invisible. In its abstraction, Matteo Montani invites us to lose and rediscover ourselves in an inner space.
